BEE FRIENDLY!

We have honey bees! What fun to see my little girl get right in there with her bee suit tightly buckled. The honey bees started as a family hobby with dreams of honey barrels and fields of prairie flowers. One hive has arrived, the bees are settling in nicely, collecting pollen and building their hive. I am happily surprised to find that this "simple" idea of raising honey bees has become an avenue to get the kids out the back door, participating in the real world and moving! Just the suggestion of checking on the bees has their little feet skipping up the big backyard hill. They sit and watch the honey bees flying in and out of their hive, making observations of pollen stuck to the legs. Prairie flowers will be blooming soon, the honey bees will stay busy, the kids will continue to be the bee keepers and honey barrels with roll down the hill in no time!
